Pada tanggal 08-10 Oktober 2026, Fr. Wibi, SSCC mendapatkan kesempatan untuk memberikan retret bagi siswa kelas 10 Collegio De San Bartolome De Novaliches. Retret ini mengusung tema: Gift of Family and Community: Source of Hope in the Future of Academic Journey dan dilaksanakan di MaPSA Holistic Development Center, Silang Cavite, Filipina.

Growing in Gratitude and Discovering God’s Call During the Grade 10 Retreat at Colegio de San Bartolome de Novaliches

From October 8–10, 2026, Bro. Wibi, SSCC, had the opportunity to lead a retreat for Grade 10 students of Colegio de San Bartolome de Novaliches. The retreat, held at the MaPSA Holistic Development Center in Silang, Cavite, Philippines, carried the theme: “Gift of Family and Community: Source of Hope in the Future of Academic Journey.”  Bro. Wibi was joined by a group of teachers from the school, led by Mr. Peregrino D. Asistol.

The main focus of the retreat was gratitude. The students were invited to give thanks for the many blessings they have received, especially their families, friendships at school, and the knowledge and guidance provided by their teachers. They were also encouraged to reflect on the important role of family and community in shaping their lives and helping them grow as individuals. The family is the first place where they experience love, learn to value life, and find support when facing challenges. Meanwhile, the school community, through friendships and the guidance of teachers, provides a place for them to develop their abilities, build good character, and prepare for the future.

Through the retreat activities, the students were encouraged to recognize that every experience, encounter, and opportunity to learn is a gift for which they can be grateful. Gratitude should not remain only in words but should also be shown through concrete actions, such as respecting their parents, appreciating their teachers, building positive friendships, and taking responsibility for their studies. This message was especially meaningful as the students prepare to complete their Junior High School education and move on to the next stage of their academic journey.

During the retreat, Bro. Wibi, SSCC, also invited the students to be more open to God’s call in their lives. By introducing the spirituality of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SSCC), he helped the young people learn more about religious life and its mission. He introduced the congregation’s devotion to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and its commitment to sharing God’s love with others.

It is hoped that this retreat will be more than a spiritual experience that enriches the students’ academic journey. May it also help them discover the meaning of their lives, grow in hope, and have the courage to respond to God’s call according to their own paths in life. In this way, family and community can truly become sources of strength and hope as they prepare to face the future.
